Aston Martin’s hybrid V6 engine will expand across the range

The first details of a new mechanic called to lead a change within Aston Martin recently arrived. The British brand is working on a new 3.0-liter hybrid V6 block whose debut is scheduled for 2022 at the Aston Martin Valhalla. However, it seems that that engine will not stay in that supercar or in the mid-engine Vanquish, everything indicates that it will expand throughout almost the entire range of Aston Martin in the coming years.

This newly developed six-cylinder appears to be arriving to replace the current 4.0-liter V8 biturbo borrowed from Mercedes-AMG. According to Andy Palmer, CEO of Aston Martin, the strategy of the German brand is to abandon this mechanic and that forces them to take their own path. Despite being a smaller mechanic, its performance would be up to the task, as it would be more than prepared to increase current power levels. In fact, from the brand they said that the Valhalla would be the most powerful model, even surpassing the Valkyrie and its V12.

The models of the brand candidates to receive this hybrid V6 from the year 2022 are those that currently use that V8 from AMG. We are talking about the Aston Martin Vantage, the access version of the DB11 and also the new SUV, the Aston Martin DBX that is about to arrive. The good thing about this mechanic is that it could be easily adapted to the needs of each copy. Electrification would also play a key role in helping to lower average emission levels at the brand.

Aston Martin’s tradition with inline six-cylinder engines is well known, but this is the first time they have dared with the V6. The objective is that the experience is close to the V8 they offered, achieving a suggestive sound and outstanding features. The 5.2-liter V12 biturbo they use in models like the DB11 itself or the DBS Superleggera will continue to exist in the medium term, but it may have to be electrified as well.
