The launch of the Audi e-tron has been one of the most important for the brand of the four rings. The main reason is that it was his first electric model and served as the first stone to build his range of the future. Initially, the 55 quattro version arrived, the same that we had the opportunity to test, which was positioned as a top of the range with its 408 HP. Now the Audi e-tron 50 quattro is announced, which will be the access version for those who do not need so much.
The configuration is kept intact, with these two electric motors located one on each axle of the vehicle. However, the power has been reduced to 313 HP and 540 Nm of torque, which means 95 HP and 124 Nm less than the e-tron 55 quattro. All-wheel drive comes standard, thanks to that engine layout. To achieve maximum efficiency and in situations of low demand, only the rear will work, while the forward will come into play when required.
This Audi e-tron 50 quattro achieves fairly decent performance with acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 7 seconds and a top speed of 190 km / h. What also changes with respect to the top of the range is its lithium-ion battery. If in the 55 quattro it was 95 kWh, in this specimen it has a capacity of 71 kWh. With that you can reduce your weight slightly, something that directly contributes to better efficiency.
With this configuration, the electric SUV promises a range of 300 kilometers in the WLTP cycle, something far from the 400 kilometers of the higher version but still sufficient for many users. The battery can be recharged in quick shots of up to 120 kW in just half an hour. You can also do that operation in an AC outlet of 11 kW in seven hours or with the optional charger up to 22 kW in half the time. The Audi e-tron 50 quattro will arrive at the end of the year and a starting price below 70,000 euros is announced in Germany.
