First details of the Aston Martin V6: the beginning of a new era

26 Mar

The new era of Aston Martin has long been talked about, which will kick off with a very special launch. Because it is not a new vehicle, but a mechanic that will be very present in the copies of the future. Now we get the first details of this 3.0-liter V6 turbo engine that is of Aston’s own creation and that could replace the V8 that is currently taken from Mercedes-AMG.

Data that we already know is that its debut is scheduled for the year 2022 and that the first model to carry it will be none other than the Aston Martin Valhalla. Therefore, the deployment of this mechanic will be in the models with a central position engine, while in the future it will have other applications. The interior code of the V6 is TM01, a clear tribute to the engineer Tadek Marek, who was an institution in the 50s and 60s. It could not be less, as it is the first engine designed internally by Aston Martin since 1968.

Another of the information that we already had about this 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 is that it will be an electrified mechanic. There are no details on this fact, but the brand is overturned with hybridization and that will achieve two things. On the one hand, that this engine will comply with the next Euro 7 regulations and, on the other hand, that it will be the most powerful option in the range, surpassing even the current 5.2-liter V12 biturbo that others specimens mount.

Unfortunately, to know the final figures we will have to wait for a closer date for the launch of the Aston Martin Valhalla. What they have confirmed from the British brand is that the engine has the configuration of “Hot V”, which means that the turbo is between the two banks of cylinders and the exhaust manifolds go between the cylinder heads. In this way a very compact block is achieved that will weigh less than 200 kg. We will be waiting for more information about this exciting V6 from Aston Martin.
