Ken Block is one of the most popular pilots and not precisely because of his performance in competition. His ‘gymkhanas’, videos full of spectacular maneuvers with the drift as the protagonist, quickly became viral and reached all parts of the world. Throughout the editions, Block has been presenting different vehicles, all of them spectacular. The last to arrive has been this Ford F-150 Hoonitruck, a copy that will appear in the Gymkhana Ten.
The tenth installment will arrive on December 7 exclusively on Amazon Prime Video (then it will be published on YouTube) and promises much spectacular. Although in the trailer we could only see other previous models such as the Hoonicorn Mustang, Ford Fiesta RX43 or Escort Mk.II, now comes the icing on the cake. The pilot takes as a basis a Ford F-150 of 1977, a model with which he learned to drive, to make a preparation of his own.
But there’s nothing left of that old F-150. The Hoonitruck is a vehicle with aluminum body that mounts in front position a V6 Eco-Boost engine of 3.5 liters very similar to that we saw in the Ford GT. Although it was clear that it was not going to be standard, the main sample is the two huge turbo that protrude through the hood. Thanks to them and other modifications now develops a whopping 914 HP and 952 Nm of torque.
The mechanics is linked to a six-speed SADEV transmission (similar to the Hoonicorn) that sends the power to the four wheels. The all-wheel drive system seems to have been inherited directly from the world of competition. The classic pick-up has received a series of modern elements and a most spartan and striking interior. We already want to see the Ford F-150 Hoonitruck in action by burning a wheel at Gymkhana Ten. His static debut will be at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas.
