As soon as we announced the arrival of the new Lexus RC, everyone automatically thought about what would happen to their sports version. The Japanese coupe received a slight update at the level of design and technology but kept its hybrid mechanics unchanged. Now has just been presented the Lexus RC F 2019, which to the joy of all its followers maintains the atmospheric V8 mechanics, one of the few that remains of this type. It also comes with an unpublished special edition.
At an aesthetic level, the modifications introduced with restyling are noticed. We talk about details such as the daytime running lights integrated in the main optics or redesigned bumpers. In this RC F everything will be a little more radical and we have a wider grill or with the four exhaust outlets in the prominent rear diffuser. You can’t miss a newly designed wheels shod with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires specific to this model.
The jewel in the crown is still the atmospheric 5.0-liter V8, one of the few mechanics of this type that remain in the market. It receives some modifications to adapt to the regulation and finally it seems that in Europe it will lose some power. While in the United States it increases to 479 HP, in our continent it will remain at 464 HP and 520 Nm of torque (its predecessor had 477 HP). The transmission is an eight-speed automatic.
Even so, the benefits are more than respectable. The new Lexus RC F has a Launch Control to make faster departures from standstill. In this way it achieves acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 4.5 seconds. To that we must add a better dynamic behavior thanks to the new tires and also some aerodynamic modifications. The brand also mentions a weight reduction, although it does not specify how much.
Lexus RC F Track Edition
As we introduced, the sports version is accompanied by a special edition. This is the Lexus RC F Track Edition, which has a set-up more suitable for circuit. It uses all the competition experience of the brand and can be distinguished by its carbon fiber roof and hood, same material used in the front splitter or fixed rear wing. With them it is possible to increase the aerodynamic load (26 kg extra of the spoiler).
In this case if we talk about a weight reduction of between 70 and 80 kg compared to the previous RC F. It is achieved with the intensive use of carbon fiber, some parts taken directly from the Lexus LFA. Also with the specific titanium exhaust of this version or with the new rims and brakes, the Track Edition rides a very lightweight 19-inch BBS wheels with some brakes that improve the performance.
The interior also increases its exclusivity thanks to a leather and Alcantara upholstery in red and some carbon fiber moldings. The mechanics used in this case is the same atmospheric V8 of 5.0 liters without changes in power.
