Mazda 100th Anniversary – a special edition to celebrate the centenary

7 Apr

As you know, Mazda is a Japanese company. It was founded in 1920, that can only mean that they are celebrating their 100th anniversary and that they are celebrating. And there is no better way to do it than with a special edition for its entire range of models. The Mazda 100th Anniversary, which is the name that this series adopts, will have a complete equipment and a series of specific components. They will begin to arrive at the different markets from summer.

Although to give context you have to go back to its origins. Mazda was founded by Jujiro Matsuda in 1920 with the name of Toyo Cork Kogyo Company Limited. Initially they were dedicated to the derivatives of the cork, but they saw the opportunity to manufacture a car already in the first years. After starting small three-wheeled vehicles, their activity is paralyzed by the war (their headquarters are in Hiroshima, although the bomb did not cause them too much damage). For its relaunch it is necessary to wait for 1960.

In that year, the Mazda R360 Coupé was released, which is considered the first passenger car and is the inspiration for this special edition. Like that small two-seater, two colors are combined for its exterior. The main shade is Snow Flake White Pearl Mica, which will match the ceiling in burgundy. They will also feature the 100th Anniversary logo, similar to the first Toyo Kogyo logo, on the front and on the rims.

The interior will also be dressed in that striking burgundy and will feature specific floor mats or the embroidered logo on the headrests. Even the key to these copies will come in an exclusive box and bear the 100th Anniversary badge. The Mazda 100th Anniversary edition will be available on all models that are marketed in the country. In Japan, for example, they are on sale temporarily, with the Mazda 2, Mazda 3 and Mazda CX-3 arriving from June. In July the Mazda CX-30, Mazda CX-5 and Mazda MX-5 (also RF) will be added and in September the Mazda 6.
