3 Dec

The updated Kia Optima (known as the K5 in Korea) debuted at the International Auto Show in New York in 2018. The best-selling mid-size Kia sedan was introduced with new design solutions inside and out, advanced technology assistants and assistants, as well as a new infotainment system. In addition, the manufacturer has increased the resolution of all-round cameras from 0.3 to 1.0 megapixels, and dark brown has replaced the light brown upholstery. At the same time, for versions GT and GT Line, it became possible to order a black interior with red inserts. Restyled version of the fourth-generation KIA Optima will be offered in four trim levels: LX, S, EX and SX.

The KIA Optima Sedan received a transformed front of the body with a completely new false radiator grille, decorated with an elegant small-cellular structure, an upgraded bumper with horizontal LED stripes and anti-fog headlights (fully LED available as an option).
The sedan’s feed did not change as much as the front of the model, but modernized side lights with modified LED graphics appeared, the bumper acquired more massive forms and acquired additional sections of overall lighting engineering.

Salon minimally changed compared to the pre-reform cars. The developers slightly corrected the shape of the steering wheel, completed the salon with newer upgraded LED contour interior lighting (6 modes), an updated multimedia system with an 8-inch touch screen capable of recognizing voice commands, Krell audio system that came on substitute for “music” by Harman / Kardon.

The LX comes with standard Stinger LED fluorescent lights, a new 16-inch wheel design and a matte gray-mesh grille.
A long list of options for the S-version emphasizes its sportiness and manufacturability, including: new fog lights, LED taillights, dual exhausts, sports side sills with glossy black leather trim, glossy black grille and 18-inch alloy wheels. And also the list is complemented by: standard push-button start, keyless access, smart trunk.
The EX-package is equipped with new, heated front leather seats, as well as a new 17-inch wheel disc design and Smart Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go. Like the S, the EX is complemented by standard fog lights, LED tail lights and dual exhaust. Options include multi-color interior lighting and heated steering wheels.
Updated 18-inch wheels are standard on the SX, and SX Limited (SXL) is available with Michelin 235/45 R18 tires. New LED fog lights, ambient interior lighting, a sports steering wheel and Smart Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go function are standard for both the SX and SXL options. The SX has European-available red and black two-tone sports leather seats, a panoramic roof, a high-quality Harman Kardon audio system with UVO connectivity with navigation, heated steering wheel, and a sports bumper with LED fog lights. The SXL is available with a striking new two-tone bronze and black interior with Nappa leather seats.
The standard equipment of each complete set of cars includes front and side airbags, ABS, ESP, diode running lights, air conditioning, help start function on a hill, a circular view system and a platform for wireless charging of smartphones.

The interior is the strong side of the Optima – it looks not only attractive and modern, but also quite presentable, and the architecture of the front panel is associated with BMW. Laconic and informative “tidy”, hidden under the visor, topped with a 3.5-inch screen of the trip computer (in advanced solutions – 4.3-inch), the three-spoke steering wheel is not only pretty in appearance, but also multifunctional in practice. At the top of the center console, slightly deployed to the driver, there is a 7- or 8-inch screen of the multimedia system, and just below are convenient control units “music” and “climate”. The decoration of the sedan is pleasant not only visually, but also from the point of view of tactile sensations – inside are made of good plastics, “decorated” with aluminum inserts, high-quality fabric or genuine leather, both dark and light tones.
Fourth generation Kia Optima front seats cannot be called reference exactly, but they have a well-developed profile, including side, soft filling and sufficient ranges for adjustments, and with increasing equipment they are supplemented by heating, ventilation, memory and electrical adjustments. The back sofa is hospitable for three people both in shape and in the amount of free space on all fronts. The luggage compartment “Optima” in the standard form takes up to 510 liters of luggage, and this is taking into account the full-size “spare wheel” in the niche under the raised floor. The back of the second row of seats folds up entirely or in two asymmetric parts in the proportion of “60 to 40” in order to achieve maximum cargo capacity.

The most sophisticated sedan boasts: seven airbags, fully LED optics, leather trim, two-zone climate, electric drive, heated and ventilated front seats, parking sensors “in a circle”, all-round cameras, media center with 8-inch screen , premium “music” with 10 speakers, 18-inch “rollers”, heated rear sofa and the “darkness” of other modern equipment.
