The family car body market is not the most successful in these times. In addition, there has always been the perception of being too bulky and unattractive. However, in recent years it has ceased to be so. And the best proof of that is here, metaphorically speaking, because we will not see it outside the Japanese market. This is the Subaru Levorg STI Sport.
On the basis of the standard Levorg, Subaru Tecnica International has put a little of its affection to have a compact family of high flights. It not only attracts glances, it also leaves them behind. Unfortunately, it will only do so in the Empire of the Rising Sun, as the Japanese company has no intention of commercializing the Levorg STI Sport out of its lands. Who does not want a ranch with the benefits of a sports car?
In our market, the Subaru Levorg is marketed with a single powertrain available: a 1.6-liter turbocharged 1.6-liter boxer associated with a continuously variable gearbox (CVT). The STI Sport will be able to equip this mechanics, but also that of the Japanese WRX STI. That is, a 2.0-liter turbo block that is capable of delivering 300 HP and 400 Nm of torque. Both the automatic transmission and the integral traction are required. Outwardly there is not much to talk about. The differences are barely noticeable with respect to the standard model, except for a darkened 18-inch alloy wheels seated on 225/45 tires, black mirror carcasses and a skirt that covers the lower part of the bodywork. Neither needed much more, the Levorg already presents an aggressive design in itself.
In the passenger compartment the house has not been thrown out the window, only the just and essential changes have been applied. The factory seats have been replaced by a couple signed by Recaro, lined in Alcantara and leather. The center console, the steering wheel, the seats, the door panels and the gear selector knob receive blue stitching. To top off the set, a carbon fiber simile molding crosses the dashboard. The prices for the Subaru Levorg STI Sport begin in the Japanese market in a figure close to 28,900 euros with the current change for 1.6. If we wanted the power of the 2.0-liter engine, we would have to scrape the pocket a little more up to 32,850 euros, approximately, it is not crazy.
