The BMW M Award of MotoGP this year will be the BMW X4 M Competition

8 May

It is already tradition that in each MotoGP season a BMW M Award is delivered. It is already the seventeenth occasion in which this award destined for the best driver in the classifications will be delivered. In recent years there has been a clear winner, as the Spanish Marc Márquez has been achieving since 2013, nothing less than six consecutive times. And now it is announced that the BMW X4 M Competition will be the prize of this season 2019.

The truth is that it has surprised a lot the choice of an SUV for this award. It must be borne in mind that on previous occasions the saloons and sporty coupes had predominated, with models such as the M2, M3, M4 and M6 in different versions. However, the X4 M Competition is a recent release and fits with the philosophy of the brand sports department, despite settling on this type of body

This issue came hand in hand with the BMW X3 M and both shared characteristics. They benefit from the most powerful 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine that has been fitted with a BMW M. This mechanic develops 480 HP in its access version, but reaches up to 510 HP and 600 Nm of torque in the Competition. In both cases it is linked to the eight-speed M automatic transmission and the M x-Drive all-wheel drive.

Thanks to this, the BMW X4 M Competition is able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 4.1 seconds and its maximum speed is limited to 250 km / h. The unit for this BMW M Award is painted in Toronto Red Metallic tone and has complete equipment such as the carbon fiber outer package, the M sports seats, the M sports exhaust or the gray Merino leather upholstery. Already accepted bets, who will be the pilot to take it to his garage at the end of the season?
