The Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 exceeds 760 HP and is the most powerful of the brand

At the beginning of the year the arrival of a model that raised a lot of expectation was confirmed. The Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 was postulated as top of the range for this model, standing a step above the previous Shelby GT350, a beast that did not want to be simply the most powerful Mustang, but the model of the brand that treasured more horses under its belt. And now it is confirmed that this model will exceed 760 HP, an unprecedented and surprising figure.

The oval mark speaks of 760 HP (horsepower), so the exact conversion to our units would be 771 hp. The torque figure was also unveiled, 625 lb-ft in American measures, which would be 847 Nm if we do the conversion. With this it becomes the most powerful production car in the history of Ford thanks to the modifications made on that fantastic 5.2-liter V8 engine that had previously been used. However, we are talking about a block with many differences with respect to the 5.2 V8 Voodoo from which it departs. So much so that it would adopt the name “Predator” and that to achieve this increase in power would mount a volumetric compressor of 2.65 liters of the Eaton brand. Also mentioned are 50% improvements in cooling and reinforcements in elements such as the crankshaft, valves and the rest of the block. At the end of the day it has to withstand the compression ratio of 9.5: 1 and be able to stretch up to 7,500 turns.

Special mention for the gearbox, that uses this Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, this is the Tramac automatic transmission we saw in the Ford GT, a seven-speed dual clutch box capable of making transitions between gears in less than 100 milliseconds. In addition, at the chassis level you will have the benefits of the MagneRide suspension or with the carbon wheels with brake caliper Brembo. With all those changes to reach the 771 HP and 847 Nm of torque would get a surprising performance. There is nothing official, but there is already talk of a 0 to 100 km / h around 3 seconds and four miles below 11 seconds. The Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 looks like it will arrive with enough skills to stand up to other tough rivals such as the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon or the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1.
