Cadillac Blackwing: these will be the most radical models

15 Apr

Cadillac have been using the Blackwing designation for a long time. This is how the powerful V8 biturbo engine that was present in some models of the brand was known, with the CT6-V being the main representative of recent years. However, the American manufacturer decided to remove this mechanic from its range and many feared that the already mythical name would be lost. Now they confirm that it will continue to be present, although in a somewhat different way from the previous one.

The new generation V Series, that is, the CT4-V and CT5-V with their marked sporting character, will receive a Cadillac Blackwing version that will be the most radical in the range. That name will be linked to maximum performance and very dynamic behavior. To do this, they will have a specific chassis set-up, with more advanced technologies and more powerful engines to achieve performance available to few rivals.

It is already confirmed that their main hallmark is that they will be offered with a manual gearbox, an option less and less widespread among high-performance models and that will be appreciated by the most purists. Not much details have been given about these Blackwing yet, but the brand was testing them earlier this year at the Virginia International Raceway circuit and both improved the lap times of their predecessors, the ATS-V and CTS-V, by several seconds.

Everything points to the fact that the new sports versions could inherit the mechanics of their predecessors. In this way, the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing could hide under the hood a 3.6-liter V6 biturbo with a power close to 500 hp. For its part, the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing could mount the LT4 block, the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 that would be around 650 HP of power. We will have to wait a little longer to know all the information about these expected sports versions.
